Job Overview

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to expand our net new client base and help us grow our business. Business Development Manager is a senior position within the organisation

You will be responsible to improve profitability through careful strategic planning and positioning in the right markets, and to enhance the business profits and reputation through three things – identifying new sales leads, pitching our products/services and maintaining productive relationships with existing customers.

Job Responsibilities

As a business development manager, you’ll need to:

  • Identify new business opportunities – including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, products and services.
  • Identify key decision makers in the prospecting organisation and develop strategic relationships.
  • Generate leads and cold calling prospective customers.
  • Attend face-to-face meetings with clients.
  • Understand the needs of your customers and be able to respond effectively with a plan of how to meet these needs.
  • Collaborate with internal resources and external network to prioritise and penetrate key accounts; quickly build relationships with key stakeholders to drive business.
  • Compliance in utilising internal sales enablement tools and management processes.
  • Liaise with internal teams to draw up client contracts.
  • Provide specialist advice on the products and/or services you’re selling.
  • Attend seminars, conferences and events as appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the business world.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sales, business development or a similar role.
  • Demonstrate experience in prospecting and developing new business.
  • Strong ability to close sales negotiations and transition prospects to clients.
  • Ability to build trustworthy relationships with internal colleagues and prospective and existing clients and other key stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Prior experience utilising an enterprise-wide CRM tool.
  • Intermediate to advanced competence in Excel.
  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
