I have 25 years experience of technology recruitment, preceded by a short software engineering career and study. My company 2dSearch are a headhunt only company (i.e. no advertising) and we find people through extensive networking and online search. I also own a technology training company and am a Board Director at UTS on their Masters of Business & Technology course, and a Board Director at the Sydney Chapter of the Project Management Institute. In 2009 I started a Tech Leadership community called SIT Man (Sydney IT Management Community) that met quarterly. This expanded in 2010/11 into MIT Man; BIT Man; and PIT Man. In 2017, these all merged into a single National Technology Leadership Community called TECHLED (www.techled.com.au). This extensive networking provides access to passive job seekers (people who are ready to change jobs, but not looking at advertisements), and to trusted referrals from people in these networks to people who they know, who are passive job seekers.
